Survivors Ball Returns to Dallas
Dallas real estate mogul, speaker, philanthropist, and survivor, Angelia Dunbar, along with her organization, My Story Our Journey, will present the 3rd Annual Survivors Ball at the Downtown Sheraton Dallas Hotel (400 N. Olive Street, Dallas, TX) on October 2nd from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The highly anticipated event will honor the stories of 13 local survivors who overcame insurmountable odds of domestic violence, life-threatening diseases, molestation, grief, near-death experiences and more, in order to passionately thrive on the other side, and to live life with fervor and purpose.
Also a survivor, Dunbar — after becoming a mother at a very young age and moving away from home at 19 —was later kidnapped, beaten and left temporarily blind, yet she still persevered. In later years, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and made a full recovery, moving forward to live an exemplary and virtuous life, selflessly serving others.
“Survivors Ball for me is a ministry,” said Dunbar. “I can look at people and tell them, ‘I’ve been there.’ I’ve been to the bottom so much throughout my life, I felt like the bottom never had an ending spot — but I knew that it did because if I just kept looking up, I knew that I could climb my way out. People can see themselves through me, and that I also went through what they are going through. We’ve all gone through things, we just don’t talk about it -- and Survivors Ball is a moment in time where those stories can be heard and where we can embrace where life has taken us and what we have been delivered from.”
Dunbar, as the Founder of Survivors Ball, truly personifies and embodies what’s coined as “resilient” through her unfathomable circumstances. Each one not only strengthened her outlook on life, but inspired her to found the platforms of both Survivors Ball and My Story Our Journey, as a catalyst for many others to embrace and share their survivor stories.
As such, Survivors Ball 2021 will set the stage for an elegant evening of story-telling, as a black tie experience celebrating the triumphs of the following “survivors”: Setra Stevenson, Mike Garrett, Dewayne Bryant, Robert Thomas, Monique Lowe, Nikisha Jackson, Storm Malone, Sue Loncar, Dana Branch and Lisa Green.
Guests will enjoy a seated dinner, live entertainment, an inspirational keynote, and a performance by GRAMMY Award Winner Le’Andria Johnson.
Tickets for Survivors Ball are on sale at SurvivorsBall.com, with General Admission at $125 and Admission coupled with a Meet and Greet with Le’Andria Johnson at $175.
