‘Soul Purpose' Returns to Dallas

Back-by-popular demand, the Dallas-based stage play written by Chericia Curtis and T.K. Henderson kicks-off the second leg of its national tour with a theatrical production coming to Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas on November 10.

The play will feature cast appearances from national gospel recording artists Cecelia Godbolt, a father-son duo (Kenny Kaye and son), Food Network star and comedian Michael Prince, and pastor Fred Thomas along with KHVN radio personality Dareia Tolbert.

“Soul Purpose” is a story of courage, strength, faith, perseverance, empowerment and inspiration told vividly through the lives of five unstoppable and courageous Black women. Each woman has a unique struggle, but by building a strong relationship and an unbreakable sisterhood, the spiritual connection between them is one that proves when two or more stand together chains are broken, mountains are moved and prayers are answered. They will eventually learn that the trials and tribulations are there to strengthen and elevate them to their soul purpose that God has instilled in them.

“I am so excited to bring my stage production back to Dallas,” show creator Chericia Curtis said. “After the huge success of my original launch of the Soul Purpose stage play that took place on April 27, 2018 at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters [TBAAL] Naomi Bruton Theatre, my team and I knew that we had to bring the tour back home to our loyal Dallas audience. Soul Purpose isn’t just a play, it’s an experience that will touch the heart and soul of every audience member."

Curtis is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Speech Communications and is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She currently resides in Highland Village, and in her spare time is involved in her church, Antioch Christian Fellowship, Corinth, Texas, where she oversees the ACT Ministry (Antioch Conservatory of Thespians) under the leadership of Pastor Christopher J. Respass.

Early tickets are currently on sale at $25, before October 10, with group rates also available. Tickets can be purchased online, and the show will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Friendship West Baptist Church located at 2020 W. Wheatland Road Dallas, Texas 75232.
