Surround Sound: Rookie and Vets Have Projects for March
This is going to be a good month for music fans. With a gospel album coming from an unlikely source to a not-so-new duo bringing their first album. This month might look a little quiet at first, but trust that we can expect a crescendo to some bangers coming out this month. Be on the lookout for some surprises, as some of our favorite artists have been awfully quiet. Check out the honorable mentions to see if your favorite artist has something up their sleeve.
Snoop Dogg — Bible of Love
March 16
Snoop Dogg is coming out with his first gospel album to much anticipation. He announced the project with the release of five songs, including a remix to the classic “Blessed and Highly Favored.” While being somewhat of a surprise, the singles released makes me want to listen to the rest of it that’s for sure.
Toni Braxton — Sex And Cigarettes
March 23
With this being her first solo album in seven years, many people are excited for this project. Toni sat down with The Insider and said, “I feel like I’m older, I want to say what I feel, I don’t want to be censored.” That coupled with her budding relationship with Birdman leads me to expect this will be something worth listening to. At least once anyway.
Chloe x Halle — The Kids are Alright
March 23
The young duo tapped by Parkwood Entertainment back in 2015 are ready to give us a new project. You might be familiar with their title track “The Kids are Alright” on the ever-popular comedy Grown-ish. The duo play twins Jazz and Sky. With songs like “Too Much Sauce” I’m sure this album will be a hit.
MF DOOM & Czarface — Czarface Meets Metal Face!
March 30
Wu-Tang Clan’s Inspectah Deck and Boston duo 7L & Esoteric have come together to give us something special. The 16 tracks include artist such as Open Mike Eagle and Vinnie Paz. This is a pretty exciting album coming from the artist. March 30 really can’t come fast enough.
Honorable Mentions
#Sremmlife
Rae Sremmurd is set to release music this month after what feels like a long silence, aside from recently being featured on the “Black Panther” album. We are all excited to get some good music as spring break is right around the corner.
Where is Nicki Minaj?
Is Nicki in the building? The artist has gone missing. With little social media presence at the end of the year we are well into 2018 and Nicki is still missing. I am expecting some major bars when the queen blesses us with her presence again.
Beyoncé Beyoncé Beyoncé
About a week ago the queen placed a new version of “Sweet Dreams” onto Tidal, but before I could even listen to it a second time it vanished. Why? Beyoncé has been seen out and about with the young and thriving Blue, but what is she really plotting? I’d keep my Tidal subscription if I were you.
