“No one should have to go hungry. We’re grateful to Albertsons/Tom Thumb Nourishing Neighbors for awarding us this grant so we can continue to help the most vulnerable members of our community, who face food insecurity on a regular basis,” said Dominique Bryant-Howell, President of the Chris Howell Foundation.

The Chris Howell Foundation has served over 28,000 families nearly one million pounds of food over the past six months. And with government assistance programs starting to expire for many families, we know that there will be an even greater need for the food and PPE care packages that we provide.

Coming into 2021, the Chris Howell Foundation budgeted more than $1,000,000 for food distribution in marginalized communities of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Not only is corporate grant support such as the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative essential, so are partnerships with food distributors. “We can’t meet the dramatic needs of these poor communities without our partners,” Howell said.

Albertsons / Tom Thumb Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative was established to help families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and beyond. This round of Nourishing Neighbors grants focuses on the needs of marginalized communities, which have been particularly hard hit. Roughly 86 percent of Latino households with children and 66 percent of Black households with children reported serious financial problems during the pandemic. Across the board, the numbers are staggering.

“Albertsons and Tom Thumb are so proud to partner with The Chris Howell Foundation in the fight against food insecurity in the midst of the COVID pandemic”, said Wayne Denningham, Southern Division President. “Albertsons and Tom Thumb have long been at the front lines during times of crisis and it is through partnerships like this we can positively impact our shared communities together to provide hunger relief for those who need it most!”

Founded by Chris Howell, author and broadcast personality, the Chris Howell Foundation started with the aim of raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and its prevention. Over time, the foundation has expanded to providing skills development, health, wellness and financial education for the Dallas-Fort Worth community. Chris Howell, along with his wife Dominique Bryant-Howell, work tirelessly to help provide a new future for at-risk individuals and communities.
