Learn How to Love Cooking

If you have to do something, then your life will be much easier if you know how to enjoy doing it. After all, they say that if you enjoy what you do for work, then you’ll never work a day in your life. And we can take the same approach to cooking. In all likelihood, you’ll need to make a meal for you and your family most evenings. If you view this purely as a chore, then you’ll face an uphill battle. On the other hand, if it’s something that you genuinely enjoy, then you’ll see it as something that you get to do.

For most people, learning how to love cooking is a process, but it’s one that you can very much do yourself. Follow the tips we outline below, and you’ll soon love the art of cooking up a storm.

Improve Your Kitchen

You won’t want to cook a meal if you hate being in your kitchen. If your kitchen is dark, cramped, and all-around uninviting, then you’ll never have the patience to make a good meal. On the other hand, if your kitchen is a genuinely nice place to be, then you won’t mind spending an hour or two preparing a great meal. If you’re looking to improve your kitchen, then some things to focus on include adding more natural light, investing in the organization, and upgrading your cooking utensils.

Keep a Well-Stocked Fridge

There’s nothing more depressing than walking into the kitchen to cook a meal, only to find that you’ve only got a few ingredients. On the other hand, if you have a well-stocked fridge and pantry, then you’ll be much more inspired to cook up something special. It’s a good idea to invest in all the kitchen essentials, so you’ll know that there’s always something to cook.

Find New and Exciting Recipes

You won’t love cooking if you’re just making the same old recipes again and again. In that scenario, you’ll be doing most of the work on autopilot. You won’t really be cooking at all; you’ll just be going through the motions. If you can look up new recipes from time to time, then you’ll be extending the range of your cooking skills, and you’ll also get to enjoy tasty new dishes that you hadn’t previously made yourself. Plus, you’ll just find that dinner is more interesting if you’re making something like instant pot Korean short ribs — you and your family will love it. If there’s one thing that’ll help you to love cooking more, it’s producing dishes that you’d happily pay for if you went to a restaurant.

Add the Fun

Finally, look at ways to make cooking more fun. No one said it had to be a serious activity! It most definitely does not. Some fun ways to make your time in the kitchen more enjoyable include playing music, listening to podcasts, dancing around, or opening a bottle of wine. You’ll find that you’re happy to spend time in the kitchen when you’re having so much fun!
