Going on vacation is a real pleasure. You get some time away, to relax and take in a whole new way of life, and forget about things that worry you back home. Prepare a Checklist Well in Advance
If this is your first vacation in a few years, it’s best to make a preparatory checklist as soon as you put the plan together. What you need to pack, what you need to have in your carry-on, what you need to do at the airport on either side, etc. Take your time with this to make it as detailed as possible. Pack Clothes That Make You Feel Good
Even if you’re going with a group of people who are all packing bikinis, you don’t have to follow suit! Pack the clothes you know you feel comfortable in; they’ll help you to feel good and your body language will seem much more relaxed and natural. However, if you do want to push the boat out and wear a swimsuit, you can get cover-ups to wear when you’re just lounging or walking around. You can show off a bit more skin but still feel confident and supported in what you’re wearing.
Get a Grasp on the Language
If you’re headed off somewhere that speaks a different language to you, try to revise a bit before you go. Pick up some key phrases, such as hello and goodbye, ‘Can I see the menu?’ and ‘What does this cost?’, as well as polite things like please and thank you, as well as ‘excuse me’. It won’t be hard to pick up just a few different things you’ll probably have to say, and you can take a language bible along with you too. Talk to a Doctor
If you’re really that nervous, it could be travel anxiety. If you’re worried about the flight, getting to your destination, or getting lost/losing something, speak to a doctor about how pervasive the feeling is. If it’s making you not want to go, or you’ve had adverse reactions while on planes or boats before, a doctor may be able to prescribe something like medication or therapy to help you stay calm and focused.
