Male Hair Loss: How You Can Deal With it

A large number of men, particularly when they approach a certain age, start to experience hair loss. It is a fairly inescapable of life and the process of becoming older. But what causes it, and is there anything you can do to prevent it, or at the very least slow it down, if it happens to you? This is exactly what we will be looking at in this post.

What causes hair loss in men?

Sadly, there is not much you can do to prevent or delay male pattern baldness (MPB), which is caused by your dihydrotestosterone (DHT) sensitivity and is entirely dictated by your genetics. An increase in DHT will aid in the growth of your beard, but it will also damage your ability to keep your hair for an extended period of time. The reason behind this is that you see a lot of elderly men with losing hair on their heads, but some very impressive beards.

Mens hair loss is extremely common, as evidenced by the statistics. A little over half of all males will have experienced it by the time they reach their 40s, and a whopping 67 percent will have had it by the time they reach their 60s. If you look at your maternal grandpa, it is typically an indication of the degree to which you will be affected by the condition.

It is not something you can control, and it is not anything you have done wrong - it is a result of your DNA, just as your height, hair color, and eye color are all determined by your genes. You must, on the other hand, learn to appreciate the image that you see when you look at yourself in the mirror.

What else can cause hair loss in men?

As previously stated, there is nothing you could have done to cause this. If you are genetically inclined to anything, it will happen regardless of what you do. Despite this, there are some things that can speed-up the process or make it more noticeable, and these are things you should think about quitting or modifying if you are concerned about male pattern baldness and hair loss.

Unhealthy eating habits

A nutritious diet is essential for a variety of reasons, and healthy hair is only one of them. Protein, for example, is essential during the growing stage, so if you want your plant to develop, consume a diet high in protein. Hair loss can also be exacerbated by a diet that is deficient in iron.

Smoking

While most of us are familiar with the hazards of smoking - including an increased risk of cancer and heart disease - did you realize that it can also contribute to hair loss? A significant increase in the likelihood of hair loss is observed in heavy smokers. This is due to the fact that it affects the circulation of blood throughout the body, resulting in much less blood reaching the hair follicles and, thus, less new hair development.
