Fashion For Good Hits Houston
On November 14th and 15th, Fashion For Good (formerly known as Fashion X Houston), hosted two evenings of fashion shows at Silver Street Studios presented by Lincoln and Fair Trade Safaris, to benefit local charities. Houston's Fashion For Good is the leading fashion event producer in Texas and beyond. With a heavy emphasis on emerging designers, Houston's Fashion For Good aims to connect these designers direct to consumers and boutique buyers--creatively and effectively. Fashion For Good supports sustainable and ethical brands, as well as runway inclusion, giving back, and accessibility.
Guests began each evening interacting with the latest fleet of Lincoln SUV's, while the VIP's mixed and mingled at the cocktail lounge sponsored by Dripping Springs Vodka. Other notable sponsors included Caffe Del Fuego, Culture Studios, The Green House Day Spa, All Flavors Catering, McKool Smith and John & Jackie.
Haute Dogs Runway Event Benefitting Rescued Pets Movement
Over 45 looks came down the runway on Thursday, November 14th, as seven clothing labels were paired with influencers and their pets or rescued pets, in a vibrant showcase of fashion on the cat "dog"walk. Participating retailers were Baus Noir, Miss Robinson, Robert Graham, Mysterious by NPN, Laro, Abejas and Amberleaf.
"Fashion is such a fun way to bring awareness to unique issues in our community," Fashion For Good CEO Matt Swinney said. "Being able to pair rescue dogs with social influencers as models helped to tell the story of how Rescued Pets Movement has saved almost 40,000 pet lives since Hurricane Harvey. Getting to watch these sweet, furry four-legged friends have a runway moment, as well as the models showing off amazing designs, was a real pinch-me moment for me personally."
From KPRC TV's Taniya Wright to media personality Michael Pearce to journalist Julia Davila to influencers Staci Henderson and Valerie Carmona, the evening successfully raised funds and awareness for the mission of beneficiary Rescued Pets Movement--a Houston-based organization dedicated to providing a second chance to thousands of homeless dogs and cats through rehabilitation and transport to forever homes in the United States and Canada.
"Being able to even be a small part of the work Fashion For Good is doing in Houston is an honor--especially for the Rescued Pets Movement," social influencer/model Michael Pearce commented. "It's an amazing organization that has saved over 40,000 animals. Fashion For Good just doesn't help emerging designers promote ethical manufacturing--they are promoting non-profits in a way no one else is doing."
Celebrate Texas Runway Show
On Friday, November 15th, 16 emerging and established designers showcased their collections to an audience of 550 for the Celebrate Texas Runway Show presented by Fair Trade Safaris. Participating designer labels were Ferrah (Project Runway Season 17), David Peck, Zoe Annette, Lorr, Sukaz Jackets, Blueprint Signature, Any Old Iron (Nashville, TN), LaLa, Lasonja Polk Design, Heidi Houston, Shehla Rana, Jen.Ley, Alantude, Olivia London (swimwear), Korto Momolu (Project Runway) and Mysterious by NPN.
Shannah Quinn of the Social Graces Social Club was honored as the Houston Style Setter and was able to have her closet hit the runway which featured her looks from business to cocktail to casual. She chose Direct Hope as the beneficiary of the evening--an organization with a mission to reduce homelessness in Houston, one person at a time.
The evening concluded with an all-out dance party on the runway initiated by the finale designer, Nicholas Phat Nguyen of Mysterious by NPN as the crowd left their seats to join. Both evenings of shows were a huge success to both the Fashion For Good brand and its beneficiaries.
